Raised in the Christian faith, the belief that we have the power to determine our fate in the afterlife is a fundamental principle. If we lead virtuous lives, we will go to heaven; if we engage in sin, we will go to hell. It is a straightforward concept of right and wrong. However, it has not always been this way. Ancient Stoics believed that our destiny was predetermined at birth, and individuals would consult astrology to discover their fate and learn to accept it. This was fine and well if the astrology reading was favorable, but what if it wasn't? In that case, one would be stuck with an unfavorable fate until Christianity emerged and offered an alternative choice. However, there are times when it appears that bad things happen to good people, suggesting that fate still plays a role. So, the question remains: how much of our lives is governed by fate, and how much control do we truly possess?
Prior to studying astrology, I believed that some significant decisions were made before our birth, while day-to-day activities were determined by our own choices. Unless, of course, you were destined to choke on a chicken bone tonight, what you had for dinner was entirely up to you. However, after delving into astrology, particularly ancient astrology with its precise timing techniques, I have come to realize that even the smallest choices, when taken together, shape our current circumstances in life. It is not typically the isolated, random decisions, such as avoiding fast food, that dramatically alter our lives. Rather, it is the choices we make in every aspect of life that ultimately define our destiny. Therefore, it is likely that a series of decisions led you to this moment, reading this blog post.
So who is responsible for making choices? You or your soul?
Before coming here, in the place where souls reside before being reincarnated, you and your guardian angels, guides, or whatever you prefer to call them, devised a plan for this life based on your soul's purpose for coming to Earth this time. You selected your parents, meaning you chose the circumstances into which you were born and set the timeline of events that will shape this life. I must mention that astrology provides a strong argument for fate. When listening to accounts of people who have had Near Death Experiences (NDE), they often speak of encountering their guides, discussing unfinished tasks from their incarnation, thereby supporting the concept of having a pre-birth plan, while also having the choice to deviate from it.
So how does it all work?
Astrology communicates through archetypes. Each planet possesses both a higher vibrational energy and a lower vibrational energy. Although we all arrived here with a birth chart mapping out the life we were meant to lead, I believe this is where free will comes into play. Let's consider the planet Mars. Mars' higher energy instills us with the courage to defend the underdog, but at a lower frequency, we can become combative or even act as bullies. This is where the choice emerges: both expressions are manifestations of Mars, but we have the agency to decide which one we embody.
